Welcome to Dunoon Wind Farm

Scotland is the windiest country in Europe, and Scottish Ministers are firmly committed to developing a renewable energy policy that takes full advantage of this massive potential. Jim Mather, Energy Minister said: "I strongly believe the vast renewables potential needs to be exploited to ensure that the opportunities and benefits of new development can be shared across the country in an equitable fashion."

In the battle against climate change Scotland now generates around 11% of its electricity from renewable sources, and the Scottish Government has set a target of 50% by 2020. As part of this overall plan towards a more environmentally responsible future, Infinergy has investigated a potential wind farm site on Cowal peninsula, north west of Dunoon and west of Sandbank. The project is known as Dunoon Wind Farm.

On Monday 9 August 2010 Argyll and Bute Council refused planning consent for the Dunoon Wind Farm proposal. Infinergy's Chief Executive Charles Sandham comments: "This is another blow to meeting government's renewable energy targets in the UK. We are currently considering our position as to whether to take this matter further." For our press statement, click here.
